The HBCU Campaign Fund (HCF) congratulates Dr. Denise Jones Gregory on her selection as the 14th President of Jackson State University—a historic and well-earned appointment that reflect her unwavering commitment to academic excellence, student success, and institutional advancement.
A distinguished scholar, seasoned administrator, and proud alumna of the university, Dr. Gregory has already demonstrated visionary leadership while serving as interim president, as well as her previous role as provost and vice president for academic affairs. Her tenure has been marked by a deep understanding of the institution’s mission and a steadfast dedication to students, staff, faculty, and legacy.
Her selection by the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning Board of Trustees (IHL) follows a deliberate search process aimed at securing stable and transformative leadership for Jackson State during a pivotal time in its history.
HCF recognizes this moment as more than a leadership transition—it is a reaffirmation of the value of cultivating talent from within our HBCUs. Dr. Gregory embodies the excellence, resilience, and innovation that define these institutions. Her leadership will undoubtedly strengthen Jackson State’s role as Mississippi’s top urban research university and a cornerstone of opportunity for students and underserved communities.
“Dr. Denise Jones Gregory’s selection as the 14th President of Jackson State University is a powerful testament to the strength, excellence, and leadership cultivated within our HBCUs.
