Advocacy in Action: The HBCU Campaign Fund Are Advancing Advocacy and Driving Support for HBCUs

Founded in 2012, HCF was established with a clear mission: to advocate for and support HBUs and MSIs through fundraising, public policy engagement, and strategic initiatives that empower students and strengthen institutions. HCF continues to grow into a multifaceted nonprofit organization with national reach, dedicated to addressing systemic inequities in higher education.

HCF’s structure reflects its comprehensive approach, with divisions spanning research, communications, alumni engagement, cultural and social justice, and institutional services. These pillars enable the organization to advocate across multiple fronts — academic, social, and economic — ensuring that HBCUs are not only supported, but positioned for long-term sustainability and growth.

For me, advocacy is deeply personal. As a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) and a leader shaped by HBCU culture, our work at HCF is grounded in lived experience and a commitment to preserving the legacy of these institutions. My vision for HCF centers on maintaining the relevance of HBCUs while expanding their capacity to service future generations.

Continuing the Campaign

As challenges in higher education persist — from funding inequities to policy shifts — the advocacy work of HCF remains critical. Through strategic leadership, bold public engagement, and a commitment to student success, HCF continue to shape a more equitable future for higher education.

For HCF, advocacy is not optional — it is essential. And through sustained effort, collaboration, and purpose-driven leadership, the campaign for HBCUs will continue to move forward.

Our advocacy at HCF matters.
