HCF’s Ten Most Dominant HBCU Leader Honoree and Lawson State President Dr. Cynthia Anthony Named 2025 CCA Fellow

In February, Complete College America (CCA) announced Lawson State Community College President Dr. Cynthia Anthony, who was named one of The Ten Most Dominant HBCU Leaders of 2025 as a 2025 CCA Fellow.

CCA Fellows are a select group of the Alliance’s most respected and accomplished content experts and thought partners. They work closely with CCA, sharing their knowledge with the Alliance, and come together to confront and overcome higher education’s greatest challenges.

Dr. Anthony, the fifth president of Lawson State, made history as the first female to lead the institution. Since 2021, Dr. Anthony has held the position of permanent president. Her work has centered around the transformative power of education, especially in community colleges, where she has served as Interim President at three other institutions; Drake State Community and Technical College, Shelton State Community College, and Enterprise State Community College. Dr. Anthony believes that success evolves through student empowerment, innovation in teaching methods, and community collaboration. She strives to create an environment where students can flourish and achieve their full potential.

Dr. Anthony, a recipient of The Ten Most Dominant HBCU Leaders of 2025, was honored for her exceptional leadership, which has made significant contributions to advancing higher education. She embodies the qualities of a leader who consistently makes extraordinary contributions to higher education and the world.
