LITTLE ROCK, AR. – The HBCU Campaign Fund (HCF) has announced Andrew Roberts, Associate Commissioner for External Relations and Strategic Partnerships for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), as a selection to the organization’s The Ten Most Dominant HBCU Leaders of 2027 and Tenth Class Honors. Roberts’ selection to the prestigious honor makes him the fourth individual affiliated with HBCU athletics to receive this recognition.

Roberts’ selection reflects a career dedicated to elevating the visibility, branding, and national impact of HBCUs through athletics communications, strategic partnerships, media relations, and storytelling. Through his work within the SWAC, Roberts has played a critical role in amplifying the voices and achievements of HBCU institutions, student-athletes, and conferences on a national platform.
The Ten Most Dominant HBCU Leaders Award & Class is a national recognition created by the HBCU Campaign Fund (HCF) that honors ten chancellors, presidents, and beginning in 2024, sports-affiliated individuals serving at or connected to HBCUs and MSIs who exemplify influential and transformational leadership. The recognition celebrates individuals who demonstrate excellence in advancing the mission, growth, visibility, and long-term progression of their institutions or organizations through impactful leadership and service.

Roberts currently serves as Associate Commissioner for External Relations and Strategic Partnerships for the SWAC after previously serving as the conference’s Associate Commissioner for Media Relations. In his current role, he oversees league external relations, strategic partnerships, marketing initiatives, media relations, digital media, and event broadcasting efforts. In addition to his conference leadership responsibilities, Roberts has contributed to NCAA championship events and national sports media initiatives, further expanding the influence and representation of HBCU athletics on larger collegiate athletics platform.
Prior to joining the SWAC office in 2019, Roberts held communications and athletics administration roles at Prairie View A&M University, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and Texas Southern University. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation as one of the leading communications professions within Black college athletics.
Among his many honors, Roberts was named the 2024 HBCU Sports Conference Media Relations Director of the Year, and repeated the distinction in 2025. He was also recognized as the recipient of the Charles “Chunk” Prophet Wagon Master Award by the SWAC Alumni Association for his years of exemplary service and contributions to the conference and its member institutions.
