The HBCU Campaign Fund (HCF) joins the broader HBCU community and fellow advocacy organizations in support of the reintroduction of the IGNITE HBCU Excellence Act by U.S. Rep. Alma Adams and U.S. Rep. French Hill.
The Institutional Grants for New Infrastructure, Technology, and Education (IGNITE) HBCU Excellence Act recognizes historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) by providing support that will strengthen their institutional capacity and further advance their transformative impact on the future of higher education.
Rep. Adams and Rep. Hill reintroduced the bipartisan bill on Thursday, May 14, at the House Triangle on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol. They were joined by bipartisan congressional leaders, HBCU presidents and chancellors, the 1890 Universities Foundation President and CEO Felecia Nave, and other national advocates.
“The reintroduction of the IGNITE HBCU Excellence Act represents a powerful investment and a critical step toward strengthening the future of HBCUs. This bipartisan bill recognizes the transformative impact of HBCUas and the importance of investing in their infrastructure, technology, and long-term sustainability to ensure students are equipped for career readiness and employability. HCF applauds Rep. Alma Adams and French Hill for their leadership and steadfast commitment to ensuring that HBCUs remain equipped to thrive for generations to come.”
