It’s both devastating and unacceptable to witness threats made against our nation’s HBCUs. We commend the swift response of campus administrations, public safety teams, and local law enforcement agencies in addressing these treats and ensuring the safety of our campuses.
We at HCF stand in solidarity with our historically Black institutions, collective strength far outweighs the intent of this cowardly act meant to harm and intimidate. Our resilience cannot be shaken, together we are #HBCUStrong.
Today’s event, which targeted at least six historically Black institutions, mirrors the bomb threats these campuses faced in 2022–deliberate acts intended to intimidate students, communities of color, and the foundations of higher education. But attacks like these never diminish the strength and prestige of our HBCUs. We remain these institutions not only endure, but thrive. Our support runs deep and will always stand with HBCUs and the communities they serve.
Once again, the HBCU Campaign Fund extends its gratitude to everyone involved in ensuring the safety of our campuses. This act—an attack on our democracy—has no place at our HBCUs. Our institutions will continue to stand as safe havens for students, centers of academic excellence, and sources of deep pride, producing graduates who lead with purpose and success.
