The 9th Annual HBCU Football and Recruitment Tour Presented by the HBCU Campaign Fund kicked off the football preseason at the 2025 SWAC Football Media Day

The college football season is almost here. The excitement all began on Wednesday, July 16, as the 9th Annual HBCU Football and Recruitment Tour Presented by the HBCU Campaign Fund joined the festivities with the preseason fun at the 2025 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Football Media Day, held at the Sheraton in Birmingham Alabama.

Throughout the day, student-athletes and coaches from all twelve SWAC teams gathered alongside media and guest, creating the perfect setting to talk all things football and preview what’s ahead for the upcoming season.

Additionally, the SWAC revealed it 2025 Football Predicted Order of Finish during the event. In the SWAC East Division, Jackson State was projected to claim the top spot, followed by Florida A&M, Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Bethune-Cookman, and Mississippi Valley State. Over in the SWAC West Division, Southern was picked to finish fist, with Alcorn State, Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern, Grambling State, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff rounding out the rankings.

The 9th Annual HBCU Football and Recruitment Tour proudly welcomed its photography intern, Darren Lewis, a May 2025 graduate of Tennessee State University. Darren brings a wealth of experience to the media team, having previously interned with TSU athletics and most recently serving as a Video Production Intern with the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers.

This year’s tour is scheduled to commence in Nashville, TN, on August 30th at the John Merritt Classic at Tennessee State University. Organization representatives are thrilled to embark on the tour in the fall to celebrate and support Black college football while assisting high school students in making informed decisions about attending college at an HBCU.

‣ October 27 | Las Vegas HBCU Classic, Las Vegas, NV
‣ November 8 | Fountain City Classic, Columbus, GA*
‣ November 15 | Port City Classic, Mobile, AL
‣ November 22 | Soul Bowl, Jackson, MS
‣ November 29 | Bayou Classic, New Orleans, LA
‣ December 6 | 2025 SWAC Football Championship game, TBA

About the Annual HBCU Football and Recruitment Tour
The Annual HBCU Football and Recruitment Tour Presented by the HBCU Campaign Fund is an initiative that support Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and football classics that feature HBCU football teams. The tour begins in September and goes through early December, kicking off with the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Football Media Day, ending with the SWAC Football Championship game, and visiting various football classics and HBCU campuses.
