HCF’s Annual HBCU Football and Recruitment Tour Receives Fourth Consecutive Invite to the BCFHOF’s Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, LAThe Annual HBCU Football and Recruitment Tour Presented by the HBCU Campaign Fund media team, which falls under the Division of Strategic Communications and Media Relations, was honored with an invitation to cover the Black College Football Hall of Fame’s (BCFHOF) Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl for the fourth consecutive year.

This year’s Legacy Bowl was held on Saturday, February 22, at the renowned Yulman Stadium of New Orleans Tulane University. Team Robinson emerged victorious against Team Gaither with a final score of 17-14, securing the coveted legacy trophy.

The game’s offensive and defensive MVPs were Daniel Richardson of FAMU and Treqwan Thomas of ASU, both of whom played on Team Robinson. FAMU’s Daniel completed nine out of twelve passes for 110 yards, while ASU’s Treqwan secured the honors with four sacks. Alcorn State University’s Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite performed an electrifying halftime show.

This year, Team Gaither sported gold uniforms adorned with red and black accents, complemented by black helmets. On the other hand, Team Robinson sported black uniforms featuring red and gold accents with white helmets.

The Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl is presented by BCFHOF, now in its fourth year. It is a postseason all-star game showcasing the best NFL draft-eligible football players from HBCUs. The bowl’s teams are named after the legendary coaches Jake Gaither (FAMU) and Eddie Robinson (Grambling State). It is broadcast live on the NFL Network, and includes a NFL HBCU Combine and week-long celebration of events representing Black culture for HBCU students and alumni.

One of the huge events during the HBCU Legacy Bowl week is the AllState HBCU Legacy Bowl Career Fair presented by the New Orleans Saints. This event provide job opportunities and career counseling for HBCU juniors, seniors, and recent graduates. This event has became the largest HBCU career fair in the nation, thanks to BCFHOF.

The Annual HBCU Football and Recruitment Tour Presented by the HBCU Campaign Fund was established ninth years ago to support HBCUs and football classics that feature HBCU football teams. The tour begins in September and goes through early December, showcasing various football classics and HBCU campuses. It comprises HCF’s Division of College Relations and Scholarships and Strategic Communications and Media Relations. The Division of College Relations and Scholarships joins the tour on specific dates to assist high school students with choosing to attend an HBCU.

The official tour schedule for the 9th Annual HBCU Football and Recruitment Tour Presented by the HBCU Campaign Fund is excepted to be released in March 2025. Donations to support the tour can be made at http://www.hbcucampaignfund.org/donate.
