
The HBCU Campaign Fund (HCF) celebrates the historic appointment of Dr. SherRhonda Gibbs as the 24th President of Texas College. Dr. Gibbs will begin presidency on July 1, 2026.
Dr. Gibbs’ is a visionary higher education leader, scholar, and entrepreneur with over two decades of experience spanning academia and industry. She currently serves as Dean of the Business and Economics Division at Morehouse College, where she has lead transformative initiatives that strengthened academic rigor, expanded experiential learning, elevated national visibility and societal impact.
Dr. Gibbs’ selections marks a defining moment for Texas College, as she becomes the first woman to lead the institution since its founding in 1894—ushering in a new era of visionary, transformative leadership. Her appointment reflects a deep commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student success, grounded in a distinguished career spanning higher education, entrepreneurship, and industry.
A proven leader, Dr. Gibbs brings a track record of strengthening academic programs, expanding experiential learning, and advancing opportunities for students and underrepresented communities. Her leadership philosophy—rooted in collaboration, integrity, and economic mobility aligns powerfully with the mission and legacy of Texas College and the broader HBCU community.
Dr. Gibbs earned a Ph.D. in business administration with a focus on entrepreneurship from Jackson State University. She also holds an MBA from Winona State University, a master’s certificate in technology transfer and commercialization from California State University — San Bernardino, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Grambling State University.
