The HBCU Campaign Fund (HCF) unequivocally condemns the hateful and threatening emails sent to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) on Thursday (January 22, 2026). These acts are cowardly, disturbing, and represent an attack not only on HBCUs, but on Black excellence, access to education, and the long-standing legacy these institutions have upheld for generations.
HBCUs have stood for nearly two centuries as safe havens of learning, empowerment, and opportunity—often in the face of hostility and systemic oppression. Threats intended to intimidate or instill fear will not erase that legacy, nor will they silence the students, faculty, staff, alumni who continue to shape our nation and world.
We stand in solidarity with every HBCU impacted by these threats and express our deepest support for their campus communities. We urge law enforcement to continue to fully investigate these incidents and hold those responsible accountable to the fullest extend of the law.
HCF remains steadfast in it mission to advocate for, protect, and uplift HBCUs. Hate has no place in our society, and it will never be stronger than the resilience, unity, and purpose of the HBCU PRIDE.
